Freshwater Black Cultured Pearl and Diamond Split Shank Ring
This ring features a 9mm black freshwater cultured pearl and 42 diamonds set in a 14K white gold setting.
Freshwater Cultured Pearls
Like south sea pearls which occur naturally in oysters, freshwater pearls occur naturally in mussels. Freshwater pearls are farmed in varieties of freshwater mussels such as Hyriopsis & Cristaria whose shells can produce up to 100 pearls simultaneously. Freshwater pearls are not marketable in their natural state and do require some artificial enhancements. However, new farming & pearl enhancement technology has enabled the freshwater pearls to be produced in a more rounded state and in an array of colors. Instantly appealing, their luminescent depth rivals naturals because, they are pearls throughout, and the price-value anomaly is obvious to consumers.Unlike some freshwater pearls, most of the fine jewelry pieces in our freshwater cultured pearl collection are round pearls and have a likeness to the Akoya Pearl at a fraction of the cost.
